Wanted for research: people who suffer from osteoarthritis
Want to help improve osteoarthritis care? Researchers from the Convergence Flagship Healthy Joints are looking for people with osteoarthritis who have been in contact with a healthcare provider about this.
Scientist Sylvia Kaljouw and her colleagues at Erasmus University Rotterdam are researching healthcare around osteoarthritis. ‘In the Netherlands, there are very many people who suffer from osteoarthritis. To treat people properly, it is important to consider patients’ preferences. That’s why we want to use this research to map the experiences and opinions of people with osteoarthritis.’
Therefore, Sylvia and her colleagues are looking for people with osteoarthritis who have had contact with a healthcare provider (such as a general practitioner, physiotherapist, hospital specialist, etc) about this. Sylvia: ‘With the results, we want to investigate how we can improve the treatment of osteoarthritis.’
What can you expect?
If you participate in the study, one of the researchers will contact you to schedule a focus group. The focus group is a group discussion with about six people with osteoarthritis. This conversation will last 1.5 hours and will be recorded by the researchers. The conversation will occur in your neighbourhood, and your insights will be confidential. Participation in the focus groups is completely voluntary. You will receive a 10 euro gift certificate to thank you for participating.
How can you participate?
