VEO releases videos highlighting the use-case scenarios

The VEO project, or Versatile Emerging Infectious Disease Observatory, aims to forecast, nowcast, and track infectious diseases in a changing world through five scenario-based work packages. The video’s below show each scenario which focuses on a specific pathway of disease emergence:

  1. Mosquito-Borne Diseases Use Case Scenario (WP05)
  2. Zoonotic Wildlife Use Case Scenario (WP06)
  3. The Changing Cryosphere – Climate Use Case Scenario (WP07)
  4. Understanding Silent Epidemics Use Case Scenario (WP08)
  5. Disease X Use Case Scenario (WP09)

The project’s Coordinator, Prof. Marion Koopmans, Scientific Director of the PDPC, introduces the project in each video, followed by presentations from each Work Package Leader and insights from additional researchers. These videos, produced during the VEO Annual Symposium in June 2023 and continuing into summer 2024, serve as a snapshot of ongoing research. The project aims to provide actionable information for early warning and monitoring of emerging infectious diseases and is set to conclude at the end of 2025. A compilation of all five videos is also available for viewing here.
