Vincent Jaddoe –
Erasmus University Rotterdam
Healthy Start Academic Lead, Professor of Pediatrics
Vincent Jaddoe, professor and pediatrician at the Erasmus MC Sophia Children’s Hospital, is fascinated by the development in the very first stages of life – prior to the pregnancy until the first years after birth – and the impact on health later in life. His research focuses specifically on the interaction between genetics and lifestyle in relationship with conception and embryonic development, and cardiovascular and metabolic health through life. Vincent is research leader of the Generation-R programme, in which more than 10.000 children and their parents are studied from the first 1000 days until adulthood. Results of this large scale research have led to the implementation of multiple preventive strategies towards future parents and small children. Vincent is one of the three academic leads of Healthy Start and founders.
