Healthy Start Ambition Lead, Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology
Lysanne te Brinke is an Assistant Professor at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences of Erasmus University Rotterdam and Lead of the Healthy Start Ambition “Youth Participation and Involvement”. Her research focuses on understanding how adolescents can contribute to societal challenges. Adolescents growing up in the current decade have to navigate various societal challenges, such as increasing social inequalities, performance pressure, and climate change. These challenges not only impact young people’s mental health but can also be transformed into opportunities for them to contribute. In her research, Lysanne focuses on adolescents’ need to contribute to society as ‘agents of change.’ By actively involving young people in policy and research, they can be empowered to shape a better future for themselves and future generations.
Lysanne is also a co-founder of the YoungXperts platform for youth participation, where young people themselves — rather than scientists — are viewed as the true experts of adolescent development.
