PhD candidate
I am Lotte Schrijver, and I work as a PhD candidate at PDPC, Erasmus University Rotterdam and Wageningen University & Research. I study mis- and disinformation during the COVID-19 pandemic within Frontrunner 4: Towards social and urban resilience. I have a background in political science, and am interested in political communication, extremism and democratic norms. Starting from a political science background, I am particularly attentive to the role of scientific knowledge in political debates, and the norms and values that underlie crisis and disaster management. I am motivated to contribute to PDPC as a place where different disciplines, including the social sciences, come together to develop better crisis and disaster policies. In the upcoming years, I hope to provide insights into human experience during crises, and the importance of taking this experience into account when developing crisis and disaster policies.
