Coen Koevoet

Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam

Healthy Start PhD

Coen is a PhD candidate within the Healthy Start initiative ‘Mental Well-being of Youth’ and is also involved in the ‘Growing Up Together in Society’ (GUTS) consortium. His research focuses on refining methods to measure social anxiety in young people and exploring how social anxiety and prosocial behavior influence each other.

Through a multidisciplinary approach — utilizing focus groups, the Experience Sampling Method (ESM), and EEG data — Coen aims to gain a more comprehensive understanding of social anxiety in youth, both as a trait and a temporary state. Under the supervision of Matthias Wieser, Anita Harrewijn, and Lysanne te Brinke, he strives to bridge scientific disciplines and enhance the societal impact of his research.
