Dr. Anja Schreijer is Director Medical Affairs & Public Health Research for Preparedness at the Pandemic & Disaster Preparedness Center in Rotterdam.

Dr. Schreijer is a medical specialist in infectious disease control and has worked for various national and international governments and organizations, including the Municipal Public Health Service (GGD), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). She is President of the European Public Health Association Infectious Diseases Control Section (EUPHA-IDC) and co-chair of the Advisory Committee on Public Health Emergencies (ACPHE), recently established by the European Commission.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as Head of General Infectious Diseases at the GGD Amsterdam and as Chair of the National Consultation on Infectious Disease Control, which was responsible for establishing scientifically sound agreements on the medical content of nationally uniform infectious disease control. In addition, she was a permanent member of the national Outbreak Management Team that advises the Dutch government on pandemic response.

Dr. Schreijer holds a PhD in clinical epidemiology and is a medical leader with a strong passion for Public Health related issues, mainly in the field of Infectious Disease Control, Pandemic Preparedness, Policy-making, Epidemiology and Behavioural Change. She connects science, practice and policy to better prepare society for the crises of tomorrow.
