Sam Riedijk and Steven Flipse awarded TU Delft Convergence Education Fellowships 2025-2027
Sam Riedijk, program director of the research master Genomics in Society (Erasmus MC), and Steven Flipse, assistant professor at the faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (TU Delft), have been awarded a TU Delft Convergence Education Fellowship 2025-2027. They receive a grant for a two-year fellowship to carry out projects to support transdisciplinary education within Convergence.
The TU Delft Education Fellowship recognizes and appreciates the efforts of lecturers for educational innovation and boosts the impact on educational reform and development.
Sam’s project, linked to the Healthy Start Convergence programme, focuses on transdisciplinary teaching programs. Sam: ‘I feel honored to be trusted with the task of embedding transdisciplinary education in our Convergence initiative. While the potential merits of transdisciplinary education are evident, currently, transdisciplinary teaching programs are scarce, and the organizational structures of universities are not ready for hosting transdisciplinary educational programs.’ With her fellowship, she aims to pilot a transdisciplinary education service, an architecture within the Convergence to develop and host transdisciplinary education and connect it to transdisciplinary research.
Steven’s project, linked to the Resilient Delta Convergence programme, aims to further empower teachers and programme coordinators to develop strategies for integrating transdisciplinary teaching and learning into their courses and curricula. Steven: ‘I am very honored that the TU Delft gives me the opportunity to work on something that I truly believe in: facilitating collaborative learning, for the future scientists, engineers and designers that we teach here.’
