Rising temperature increases risk of preterm birth in the Netherlands – especially in disadvantaged neighborhoods
The impact of climate change extends beyond extreme storms or drought. Its effects on our health are also increasing. For example, research shows that the increasing heat in the Netherlands is leading to more premature births, especially in disadvantaged neighborhoods.
These findings from, amongst others, the researchers of the Health & Technology flagship ‘Personalized, Real-Time Health Impact of Climate Change and Pollution’ were recently published in Public Health.
By analysing over 2.4 million birth records, the scientists highlight how climate change is worsening health disparities from the very beginning of life. This study serves as a strong call for action by policymakers, healthcare workers, and communities. Read the full article to see how science can support meaningful change.
