PROTECt ME Fieldstudy
Participate in mental health research? You can with the PROTECt ME field study.
We are researchers from Erasmus University Rotterdam, TU Delft and Erasmus MC.
We study what exactly affects the mental health of young people, aged between 16 and 25.
We do this to improve future help for young people who suffer from anxiety or mood disorders. For example, when are you at extra risk of mental health problems and what can you do to protect yourself from them?
Participate?
If so, we ask you to:
1. At the beginning, we ask you to fill in a general questionnaire.
This will take 30 minutes.
This contains general questions so that we can get to know you better.
You will receive 10 euros for this.
2. Fill in a short questionnaire via an app every day.
This takes 2 to 5 minutes a day.
You do this every day for 3 weeks.
You get 20 euros for this
3. Complete a short follow-up questionnaire every month.
This takes 15 minutes.
We do this every month.
You get 20 euros for this.
How much time will this cost you?
In total, you will spend a few minutes a day on it. The survey will take several weeks.
What do you get?
You get €10 for the first questionnaire, €20 for the daily questionnaire, and €20 for the monthly questionnaire.
So in total, you get €50 if you take part in the whole survey.
Pluses and minuses
A minus: It takes some of your time every day. Sometimes the questions can be difficult or confrontational.
Plus point: It can help young people suffering from mental health problems in the future.
Anonymity
We store the data (the answers you gave) without using your name in the process. So it is anonymous. We keep your personal data for 15 years.
We may share the data with other researchers (inside and outside Europe), but this will always be anonymous. So your name will never be included.
Want to stop?
Participation is voluntary. You can stop at any time without having to give a reason.
