Professor Vincent Jaddoe appointed Erasmus Professor

On November 10, during the Dies Natalis, the 112th anniversary of the founding of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), Professor Vincent Jaddoe was appointed Erasmus Professor. This prestigious title is awarded by the EUR Executive Board to inspiring scientists who lead multidisciplinary teams and jointly help achieve Erasmus University’s strategic goals.

Professor Vincent Jaddoe is a pediatrician and professor of pediatrics and epidemiology at Erasmus MC and the initiator of Healthy Start. He is one of the Academic Leads who determines the strategic direction of our program. He is also closely involved in our ambitions “The First 1000 Days and a Resilient Life” and “Children’s Hospital of the Future.”

Vincent is also the principal investigator of Generation R, in which more than 20 departments from Erasmus MC and EUR collaborate closely to improve the health, well-being, and social participation of future generations.

Transdisciplinary collaboration is central to both research programs. This involves conducting research with society and various disciplines. According to Professor Jaddoe, this is the way to create new insights.

Vincent hopes that Healthy Start, through collaboration between various disciplines, will enable breakthroughs relevant to future generations. Or, as he stated during the Dies Natalis: “I strongly believe this approach is necessary to achieve the necessary breakthroughs to keep health, prevention, and care accessible and affordable for future generations.”
