Grand opening
Motion Biomechanics & Imaging lab
On 17 October 2024, the Erasmus MC / TU Delft MOtion Biomechanics & Imaging (MOBI) Lab will open its doors at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam. This innovative research centre is the culmination of a unique collaboration between Erasmus MC and TU Delft, and is a significant step in our joint mission: to accelerate the translation of technological innovations into clinical practice, with the aim of creating direct benefits for society.
The MOBI Lab, a unique facility in Europe, enables researchers to measure joint loading during movement in an unprecedented way. This breakthrough offers new opportunities for the early detection and treatment of osteoarthritis, a condition that currently affects 1.5 million Dutch people and whose impact is expected to increase to 2.5 million people by 2040. The social impact is huge, both in terms of quality of life and healthcare costs.
By bringing this laboratory to life, we are fulfilling two ambitions: we are making scientific breakthroughs possible in the field of biomechanics and medical imaging, while at the same time developing innovative treatments that can ease the pressure on healthcare and significantly improve patients’ quality of life.
The lab’s grand opening which starts at 16:00 will be a highlight of the day, following a thought-provoking symposium from 12:30 to 16:00 at Erasmus MC. Go to the registration page if you want to be present.
