Scientific Secretary

Dr. Schuyler Houser is a Scientific Secretary of the PDPC and has an expanded focus on knowledge synthesis and translation, particularly related to natural hazards. Schuyler draws on a multidisciplinary background in engineering, public policy, economics, management and broad experience in academic research. Prior to joining PDPC, Schuyler was a Postdoctoral Researcher at TU Delft in the Department of Water Management, during this time she led a multistakeholder work package on water resources governance in Indonesia. She was previously a World Bank Group infrastructure economist, conducting research and providing advisory in infrastructure policy and finance, disaster risk management, infrastructure resilience, water supply, and water resource management. Schuyler holds a PhD in Public Policy from the Lee Kuan Yew School, National University of Singapore, where she was also a researcher at the Institute of Water Policy. Schuyler also holds an International MBA from the University of Maryland University College and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University. Schuyler specializes in mixed-methods research and is experienced working with multidisciplinary teams at the science-policy interface.
