Guusje Enneking
PDPC, Erasmus University Rotterdam
PhD candidate
My name is Guusje Enneking, and I have a background in architecture and sociology. I am a PhD candidate within the PDPC, working in the sociology department at Erasmus University Rotterdam. My work is part of Frontrunner 4: Towards social and urban resillience. My research, conducted in the context of Rotterdam, explores the role of social infrastructure in supporting structurally marginalized groups in times of crisis and insecurity. Beyond highlighting the essential care and welfare activities that take place through these infrastructures, I aim to foreground the everyday efforts required to sustain them, as well as the (unequal) relationships embedded within them. Drawing on my background in architecture, I also try to emphasize the material and spatial practices that shape these infrastructures. Through this, I am hoping to gain a deeper comprehension of what ongoing crises and insecurities, and the structures that produce them, may teach us about crisis preparedness and resilience thinking within the PDPC.
