Emma Wijers completed her Erasmus Mundus Master in Infectious Diseases and One Health, studying in France, Spain, and Germany. For her thesis, she spent six months in Kenya at the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH), conducting research on emergency preparedness and response in five African countries. She previously obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology with a minor in Law at KU Leuven (Belgium). Within the PDPC and the UNITY consortium, Emma will design and conduct simulation exercises to evaluate whether the decision-making framework developed under UNITY functions effectively during pandemics to inform policymakers.
