Success story: First edition of the Conference for Responsible AI in Health Care 2025
– Nieuws, Evenement, September 2025 –
We look back to a very energetic two days in Rotterdam in which important voices to realize responsible AI for health care were brought together. Medical specialists, academics from various disciplines, R&D teams, designers, and start-ups joined the debate on the question of how to shape this transition in a responsible way.
It was great to see all the enthusiasm and dedication in the room to convene around this topic and align on the way forward in developing AI responsibly in the health care domain.
On September 11th and 12th we had a diverse program lined up with inspiring keynotes, sharing of academic insights, a start-up competition (co-organized with Rotterdam Square), a panel with regulatory experts and one discussing implementation of AI into health care. All together a lot of diverse insights into how to best develop and implement AI in the health care setting.
This diversity in perspectives is exactly what the Convergence Center for Responsible AI stands for, bringing together important voices and collectively discussing the best way forward.
“Within the Center we have the vision of safe and responsible AI reaching the bedside: health care practitioners and patients. At this moment in time, we see a lot of AI development but unfortunately implementation is lagging behind. Therefore, our mission is to foster interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance the chances of successful implementation.”
With great insights into new AI innovations the conference also sparked interdisciplinary discussions to ensure safe and fair usage for providers and patients.
The conference centered around 6 main topics: Collection and sharing of health care data for AI (data projects); The (value-sensitive) development of AI systems and their fit with work floor demands; Interactions between AI, health care professionals, and/or patients; Implementation and operationalization of AI systems; Evaluation and accountability of (socio-technical systems including) AI in health care and Governance and regulation for AI in health care.
We would like to thank all our partners, participants, keynote speakers, panel members and presenters for making this first conference of its kind a very successful one. We look forward to meeting you all again at one of our next events and continuing the discussions to ensure the responsible use of AI in health care.
