VNOP Conference 2026
Rethinking Developmental Science: How can we grow with the world around us?
In recent years, science has increasingly responded to societal questions to make meaningful impact. This year, we are calling the field of developmental science to explore how youth perspectives and societal questions can be integrated into fundamental and applied research. We will address the question: How can developmental research evolve to reflect the lives and needs of today’s youth as much as possible?”
The conference is strongly inspired by development itself: taking place in phases, shaped by context, and driven by connection. Developmental research evolves throughout phases from curiosity to design, to dissemination, and back. The conference brings together researchers to explore how developmental science can respond to societal questions while strengthening its scientific foundation.
Here’s what you can look forward to at this event:
The first day features keynotes by Rogier Kievit and Amy Orben, alongside symposia, social programs and closes off with dinner. The symposia continue in the next day, followed by a keynote by Esther Roozendaal.
