Cross-disciplinary AI design-a-thon

Calling All Innovators:

We’re extending our invitation to creative coders, AI researchers, legal experts, artists, designers, humanities scholars, social scientists, engineers, and medical specialists. Join us for a fast-paced day of skill-sharing, collaboration, and hands-on creation of prototype solutions at the intersection of AI & healthcare.

We will be joined by Weiran Han (Ph.D. candidate at Erasmus MC) and Hugo Horlings (Pathologist at Netherlands Cancer Institute / Antoni van Leeuwenhoek) are both working on cancer research, implementing AI in medical contexts. They will present their research to allow the participants to contribute to actual cases from different perspectives.

Why Healthcare: Our choice of healthcare as the theme for this design-a-thon is the culmination of two previous co-creation sessions. In healthcare, decisions extend beyond individuals, leaving a profound impact on entire communities. It’s a vibrant crossroads where diverse disciplines, from medicine and data science to legal expertise, engineering, social sciences, and more, come together to collaborate and innovate for more equitable solutions.

What to Expect:

  • Dive deep into real-life healthcare challenges.
  • Collaborate closely with experts from diverse fields.
  • Work hands-on with software and tackle specific problems.
  • Push the boundaries of your discipline and contribute to a research ecology that thrives on cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Networking Opportunities: Connect with AI PhD researchers from within the Convergence network, including #Erasmus University, #ErasmusMC, and #TUDelft.

A Diverse Team Leading the Way: The event is led by a dynamic team with backgrounds in arts, coding, education, design, and more.

By joining us, you’ll gain:

  • Mastery of coding repositories, including natural language coding.
  • Hands-on experience with AI research methodologies.
  • Co-design and rapid prototyping skills.
  • The ability to develop new research questions and frameworks.
  • Valuable cross-disciplinary connections and network expansion.
  • A certificate of participation.
  • The chance to compete for a gift certificate as part of the team with the most innovative ideas.
