Erasmus MC Summer School

Would you attend “school” in the summer? It’s much more fun than you think! The Summer School at Erasmus MC lasts three days and is an opportunity to immerse yourself in (bio)medical and societal topics together with researchers, artists and creators. The end result? An exhibition in the Doelen and then later at the Science Gallery at Erasmus MC.

This year’s Summer School theme is ‘The consulting room of the future’. Between July 30 and August 1, 15 students will explore the future of health care with the help of medical and societal experts, artists, and designers.

For whom

The Summer School is open to students and young professionals. Specifically, it is intended for second —and third-year undergraduate students, master’s students, and young professionals who graduated less than two years ago. Your degree does not matter, be it medicine, clinical technology design, or arts. Students receive 150 euros for their participation, and young professionals 450 euros.

About the topic

The patient and doctor meet in the consulting room. However, the era of the patient having to follow the “doctor’s order” is long gone. Value-based healthcare and shared decision-making are becoming more important. Meanwhile, technical developments are continuing to advance. E-health has already moved part of the consulting room into the home. What will the consulting room look like in the future?
