Creating a Vision for Port Cities: Morocco Edition

Join us for the upcoming international workshop “Creating a Vision for Port Cities: Morocco Edition”, organized by the PortCityFutures center as part of the TU Delft, Leiden University, and Erasmus University alliance, in collaboration with local and international partners.

Resilient Delta is pleased to support this event, which builds on the success of our pilot workshop in The Hague (2–4 September 2025), and contributes to the ongoing international dialogue on the economic, environmental, and social futures of port cities. Our academic lead, Vinzenz Baumer Escobar, will also be present, offering a point of connection for those interested in our work at the intersection of resilience and urban-port development.

The workshop will take place from 1–5 December 2025 in Rabat, Morocco, with field visits to Rabat–Salé, Casablanca, Tangier City, and Tangier Med.

About the Workshop

This five-day program brings together professionals and researchers working at the intersection of urban planning, port development, heritage, and environmental policy. Participants will gain:

  • Strategic tools for vision-building, including stakeholder mapping, scenario planning, and value-based approaches;
  • Case-based insights from Moroccan port cities relevant to European and international contexts;
  • Networking opportunities with experts, policymakers, and urban planners shaping sustainable and inclusive port–city strategies.

Who Should Register

The workshop is open to professionals from the maritime and port sectors, spatial planners, municipal and governmental actors, NGOs, urban and architectural agencies, and researchers working on related topics, including ecology and sustainability.
It offers a unique interdisciplinary learning environment and encourages dialogue between experts and practitioners from diverse port city contexts.
