Transformative Research Module: Reflexivity
Reflexivity
This module covers reflexive practice in transformative research. Its purpose is to inspire you to explore and experiment with different reflexive paradigms and practices. In this module, join Ginie Servant Miklos and Pleun Hermsen to explore the importance of reflection at large and in transformative settings specifically. We then discuss different frameworks for reflexive practice, specifically the cognitive, phenomenological, and psychoanalytic lenses and newer approaches aspired by post-human ecology. We cover innovative tools and methods for transformative reflection and close with examples from practice.

Pleun Hermsen
is a versatile educational innovator and Director of the Reflective Engineer Program at TU Delft. This program develops reflective experiences within disciplinary engineering education, fostering socially responsible engineers who thrive in the context of complexity and uncertainty. As a Trauma surgeon turned educator, she acquired extensive (change) experience in academic education. Her unusual profile stimulated her to incorporate transformative reflection in engineering education and sparked her appreciation for the diversity of people and perspectives. She developed numerous reflective experiences and educational innovations. One of these is Campfire talk, a succesful serious game for peer-to-peer coaching. She recently received a senior Comenius grant on ‘perspective agility’ and is starting het PhD research.

Ginie Servant-Miklos
is an educator, researcher and activist, currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences. Ginie contributes to the Design Impact Transitions Platform through the Masters Programme in Societal Transitions and the EUR Sustainability Dialogues. She was awarded a Senior Fellowship of the Comenius Network in 2022 for her project on Experimental Pedagogics. Previously, Ginie was a Senior Lecturer at Erasmus University College (2013-2022), a Visiting Professor at Tyumen University (2020-2022), and a Postdoctoral researcher at Aalborg University (2018-2020).
