Convergence highlighted during working visit of Erasmus MC by mayor Schouten
During her working visit of Erasmus MC, mayor Carola Schouten learned how the collaboration in Convergence with TU Delft and Erasmus University Rotterdam contributes to sustainable and accessible healthcare in Rotterdam.
For example, Romy Gaillard, Ambition Lead at our programme Healthy Start, talked about research on factors that impact a healthy start for children in Rotterdam. Maarten Frens, MT member of our programme Health & Technology, talked about the new medical curriculum that prepares the new generation of doctors for the challenges in healthcare. For example, it pays specific attention to social engagement and technological competence.
Antoinette Oudshoorn, director of Convergence, spoke about how TU Delft, Erasmus MC and Erasmus University Rotterdam can contribute in a way that is truly felt in the city. In doing so, she indicated that it is a valuable learning process to collaborate well. Not only between different disciplines, but also with companies, municipality and civil society organisations.
Dirk Schraven, member of the Executive Board, and Rik Dalmeijer, Campus Development Program Manager, updated the Mayor on the Erasmus MC master plan for a new campus. This campus will provide the collaboration within Convergence with the physical space to transform medical-technological knowledge and innovations into commercial activity.
Both Convergence and the new campus contribute to the development of tomorrow’s healthcare, which comes with a good number of societal challenges. Challenges that the mayor recognizes and underscores like no other.
